About the Lean Enterprise Institute / Press Releases / John Shook, LEI CEO, Will Keynote the Third Annual Lean Coaching Summit

John Shook, LEI CEO, Will Keynote the Third Annual Lean Coaching Summit

June 6, 2014

The nonprofit Lean Enterprise Institute (LEI) today announced that CEO John Shook will deliver a  keynote at the third annual lean Coaching Summit, set for July 29-30, in Long Beach, CA.

Shook will be joined by fellow keynoters, Rich Sheridan, author of Joy, Inc., and CEO of Menlo Innovations, which is noted for its learning and mentoring culture; and Swen Nater, a former NBA star who learned from legendary coach John Wooden. Jim Huntzinger, president, Lean Frontiers, which is sponsoring the summit with LEI, will deliver the welcoming presentation.

As co-author of Learning to See, Shook helped introduce the world to value-stream mapping. In his latest book Managing to Learn, he describes the A3 management process at the heart of lean management and leadership. Both books won Shingo Research and Professional Publication Awards. He also co-authored Kaizen Express a bi-lingual manual of the essential concepts and tools of the Toyota Production System.

Shook learned about lean management while working at Toyota for nearly 11 years in Japan and the U.S., helping it transfer production, engineering, and management systems from Japan to NUMMI and subsequently to other operations around the world.

Lean Coaching Program

The conference will take place at the Westin Long Beach hotel, 333 East Ocean Blvd., in Long Beach, near the beach and famous attractions such as the Aquarium of the Pacific, Pike Shopping Center, and Rainbow Harbor.
