Lean management practitioners will converge on Orlando, FL, March 5-6, 2014, for the Lean Transformation Summit to hear leading manufacturing and service companies share practical details of how they are improving lean management systems with a strategy of “improve the work, develop the people.” The annual conference is sponsored by the nonprofit Lean Enterprise Institute (LEI).
Managers and executives from a cross-section of industries, including GE Appliances, Ingersoll Rand, Cardinal Health, the Food Bank For New York City, TaylorMade, Menlo Innovations, FONAona International, and Washington State government are among the presenters. LEI CEO John Shook will deliver the keynote.
“Presenters will share how they are delivering more value to customers by improving their lean management systems,” said Rachel Regan, LEI director of lean events and community support. It’s going to be one of our highest quality Lean Summits ever.”
In a unique format for plenary sessions, executives will describe their improvement strategies, then managers and continuous improvement professionals will explain the how-to tactics in breakouts. Plenary presenters are:
- Ingersoll Rand CEO Mike Lamach, who will reveal how he and other managers are leading “horizontally” to accelerate both the pace of improvement and engagement with people.
- GE Appliances will share the latest successes and challenges of its celebrated reshoring effort.
- The Food Bank For New York City will explain how lean management is helping it do more with less to serve needy clients.
- Cardinal Health will describe a comprehensive program for developing internal lean leaders.
Special Session with James Womack
Management expert Jim Womack, award-winning business book author and LEI founder, will host a special “Lean Talks” session. The TED Talks-style breakout is open to selected audience members who can share a story that addresses the Summit’s theme of “Improve the work. Develop the people.” Womack is co-author of business book classics The Machine That Changed the World, Lean Thinking, and author most recently of Gemba Walks.
Other conference highlights include learning sessions on overcoming critical challenges to implementing a lean business system and workshops for building lean management skills and behaviors.
