Lean Management Workshops Set for Cambridge

December 23, 2010

Cambridge, Mass., Dec. 20, 2010 — A comprehensive program of workshops at the Cambridge, MA-based Lean Enterprise Institute (LEI) will show executives and managers how to implement and sustain lean management systems, behaviors, and company cultures.

The program includes two new workshops by Michael Ballé, a two-time Shingo Research Award winner as co-author of the business novels The Gold Mine and The Lean Manager.

The workshops will be held at the Lean Enterprise Institute’s office at One Cambridge Center, Cambridge. For complete details about content, instructors, discounts, and to register, go to https://www.lean.org/Workshops/WorkshopCalendar.cfm, call 617-871-2900, or email registrar@lean.org. The schedule is:

Managing Value-Stream Improvement (Feb. 9-10, 2011) – Learn how to get beyond basic value-stream mapping projects to implementing and managing the improvements. A successful project requires “scoping” to define the improvement project, problem solving to design a leaner future state, and project management to create a plan that guides implementation and continuing support. https://www.lean.org/Workshops/WorkshopDescription.cfm?WorkshopEventId=82&WorkshopId=2

Getting the Right Things Done (Feb. 23-24, 2011) – A common problem in a lean transformation is taking on too many initiatives at once. The strategy deployment process you’ll learn in this session guides you in “de-selecting” initiatives down to the ones the organization can really achieve while aligning them with the company’s key strategic objectives. https://www.lean.org/Workshops/WorkshopDescription.cfm?WorkshopEventId=83&WorkshopId=5

You’ll not only learn, you’ll also practice new lean leadership behaviors as a team of skilled instructors combine an experiential methodology, a realistic business case study, and a simulations. https://www.lean.org/Workshops/WorkshopDescription.cfm?WorkshopEventId=43&WorkshopId=43

New! Gemba Coach (March 29, 2011) – You know it’s important to spend time at the gemba, Japanese for “actual place” where value is created for customers. But once you are on the shop or office floor, what should you do to foster continuous improvement? What do you say? What are your objectives?  Find out from experienced lean practitioner Michael Ballé, a two-time Shingo Research Award winner. https://www.lean.org/Workshops/WorkshopDescription.cfm?WorkshopEventId=81&WorkshopId=57
